by Orgone
I'd never heard of Orgone before this album was released, but I've come to have a great deal or respect for Ubiquity Records, and figured it was worth taking a risk and checking this out.
Cali Fever is exactly what you would expect. It's almost an hour of straight up California funk, with a nice mix between instrumental and vocal tracks. None of the lyrics are particularly memorable, but that's because this album is more concerned with crafting a mood; the point of any song is ephemeral, all that matters is the music.
This nine-piece band has an improvisational air to it, as they slide effortlessly from song to song. This is not a classic album, but it definitely serves its purpose for a fun summer romp.
