This has got to be the bloodiest issue of Northlanders yet, which is really saying quite a bit....
The issue opens with the battle taking place at Clontarf, where the king is. It's not that clear who the king's forces are fighting, but I'm sure a little on-line research would clear that all up. Really, this battle has been immaterial to the focus of the arc - the cat and mouse game being played by Ragnar and Magnus, which also gets amplified in this issue.
The theme here is that insurgency really only ends up hurting the people you are trying to free, as Ragnar's men put in play a very deadly trap for Magnus - namely raping and pillaging the locals.
There is some very nice character work here, and a very strong cliff-hanger ending. This is a great series.
