This is a very interesting article about the Afghanistan National Police force - more specifically a particular unit made up completely of ethnic Hazaras and trained by a Canadian soldier.
In the same week that Canadian casualties reach 100 in this region, it is good to see that our troops are making some serious headway in helping Afghanis develop functioning alternatives to NATO military support.
At the same time, there are serious concerns about placing an aggrieved and second-class ethnic group in a position of power over the ethnic minority - it didn't turn out so well in Rwanda.
It's good to see that the New Yorker is not ignoring this oft-forgotten corner of the War on Terror.
