Ghetto Sci-Fi

Ras G and the Afrikan Space Program

This is a very nice album to groove out to. It's a little ambient techno and a little hip-hop. Ras G creates his 'ghetto sci-fi' soundscapes in such a way that they slowly take over your mind and thought processes, until you've forgotten whatever you were doing, and find yourself just starting off into space.

At least, that's what happens when I listen to this (which is why I won't play it in the car).

Ras G is coming out of the same school of thought as Flying Lotus, and is one of those alternative futures for hip-hop (maybe a timeline that diverged at some key point where the people actually started demanding good music, and cared more about who was on the beat than who was on the mic).
